Texas J RAC Prevention - Project Rescue Me
i
HOME

“Project Rescue Me” was instituted following several tragedies in our area that resulted in the loss of life where the victim had no identification. A number is assigned to each person registered and entered into a database along with pertinent information in case of emergency. A corresponding numbered tag is then given to the person and may be worn as a necklace, tied into shoelaces or roller-blades or attached to a helmet. “Project Rescue Me” is not only for children; adults use them too. They are designed for anyone who jogs or bikes or has some sort of medical condition.

The database is accessible 24 hours a day. Should tragedy strike, any Law Enforcement Officer or hospital personnel may call the 1-877 number on the tag, give the operator the number from the tag and instantly know the identity of the victim as well as information regarding next of kin and essential medical history. Information is only available to Law Enforcement and hospital personnel.

The project was begun in Midland in 2000 and now has approximately 10,000 people registered across the United States.

To register or for more information , please contact Melody Hart at Midland Memorial Hospital (432/685-1512).
