Our special guest again this year was Mike Steidley, 7 time National Champion and Pro Trials, freeride and stunt bicycle rider. While doing his stunt performances, he talks to the students about the importance of wearing bike helmets and protective gear.

TRAUMA AWARENESS DAY 2009
Trauma Awareness Day 2009 was held May 11-12 at the CitiBank Ballpark in Midland, Texas with participation and support from the Midland RockHounds. Because of the overwhelming response from teachers and students this year, it was decided to make this years' Trauma Awareness Day a 2 day event. Both days recorded attendance at 6500 people! This is the highest record of attendance at the ballpark....which is great news! Not only do the students get to see a local ball game, but they also received valuable information from EMS and healthcare providers about injury prevention. The message from the Texas J Regional Advisory Council to the students and teachers is "Prevention is the Key!" We look forward to this annual event with the Midland RockHounds and hope to continue to reach out to the students and teachers in our region's 17 surrounding counties.
